My Skins and other Stuff!
Published on November 10, 2006 By dustyshot In Object Desktop
I have bought Object Desktop Network about 2 weeks ago. I had it working for 3 days with no problems. The first 3 days of downloading and installing with Stardock Central. After, 3 days of great stuff it started to give me problems of not loading in to windows xp. I unstalled and reinstalled and multiple issues. I have not had a good running of Object Desktop Network since those first 3 days of buying the software. I just had Bichur help me in the windowblinds thread, that actually did not help and I thanked him for trying. I put in a ticket before he helped me in to the technical support. I just uninstalled the software again and not putting it back on until this is resolved. I hope someone can help me. I like this software but not if it will be a pain just to have it run. Please I am begging to have someone help with this.

Posts don't get closed, except on necessity.

They just eventually sink down the list.

uninstall dtx - reboot - reinstall via sdc - (download and run smart exception) - run dtx - if it crashes the smart exception will generate a report you can send to stardock

If you have not read other post yet in other thread. I am currently not using object desktop. I can't fix it. Still have continue of issues and really tired of it and really have no more options left. That mcp smartstartup was already enabled everytime.

This is weird that I sent a ticket about not loading in windows correctly then I finally got a response saying it was bootskin. Well I had problem with or without bootskin. As for vidstub.sys in windows\system32\drivers is not even in there in safe mode. I still think it is something else and I will never get this software running and I will just get taken of my money. All I got running so far is windowblinds. We will see if I even get any further. I got nod32, comodo firewall, adaware on my computer because I was getting issues with my pccillin internet security 2007 (pccguide.exe not responding when rebooting or trying to shutdown when not fully loading into windows), systray not all the way loaded. So I still think this will be endless fix, since I never got it resolved. Telling me to delete something that is not even there is a crock.

Well again I had to uninstall object desktop. Same problem with no one in technical giving me the right help. I wrote mike and still wont get the right help. I will end up waiting another 2 days and nothing again and another 2 days on and on and on and on with no resolution. I don't think you even know what to do, except waste my time. The had to try giving help on something I was not even asking about. BOOTSKIN WAS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRY AGAIN!!!!

Support is trying to help you.  They are working down the list of probably causes, bootskin sitting very near the top.  Posting angry messages as support works to narrow down the issue is not going to speed the process along any.  They are working with the information you provided in your ticket.

This not worth such a hassle. I have the most critical problem and they just make me wait. Ok, fine longer I wait the more I will not renew the software even you do get it working. This is bs every 2 days and nothing happens. Already been waiting since last thursday that is considered to me 4 days wait plus 2 more now. almost 7 full days, by the time I hear from them again. I don't care if you go by business days it is still my life your wasting by making wait for nothing. The information they went by was not even right. I said nothing about bootskin being the problem.

Criticize all you want it wont get me off. It took 4 days to come up with a answer that was not even what I said in the ticket. I said it could possibly be it and that is all they got out of it when I said other stuff in there. So what they go by one thing out of all I said and that is it in one email. They said in email that was the most probable cause of being bootskin, it would be and it was not even close. Sounded to me that they did not try hard enough to give more than that.

I am not even putting the software of object desktop on again until I hear something different than what I have already tried. Don't give me they are going by what I put in the ticket again because I read my original first ticket and even when I said something about bootskin in other tickets and I said it used to be on my computer. Which means that vidstub.sys would not be there. They need to read all of what I said not partial and only go by that. It has nothing to do with my pccillin either since nod32, comodo firewall, lavasoft adaware made no change. I paid for year subscription of the software time is going quick for not using it. 2 1/2 weeks and counting. That means I used about a dollar of my subscription already without it really working. 52 weeks in a year and just over 2 weeks gone. Figure it out. So I would think before putting a customer down about being upset, when every possible thing I see coming from stardock is not helping but getting worse. I am not any closer to using my subscription than when I first bought it. Reality is there are so many scams on software now a days. I hope you can prove me wrong that stardock is not part of any scams. The only way now for me to believe this is going to work if I going to even use the software at all. This is not ranting. This is fact now. Really, any and probably all this is true until I have something that I paid for works. For as first ticket I said it will not boot all the way into windows. Which means it went into windows but did not finish loading. Which to finish loading, all icons in systray have to be all done and finished before I can really use the system. Each time I reinstalled and uninstalled caused me to lose activiation. I don't appreciate people from a company accusing me of giving a serial out to other people because that is just not right. I did not such thing and you have no proof. I used it up because I was trying to get help from Bichur and was told to reinstall, and everytime reinstalling I had to uninstall because it would not work everytime. Everytime I installed windowblinds it had to be unistalled and reinstalled right after it was reinstalled. It works when I load suites into object desktop theme manager in object desktop, not the one that has all the stuff on the side (theme manager 2007). Well I guess I will end for now but which I see nothing better happening. New stuff from stardock is about all I see on the forums and not much in getting a resolution.

Patience is a virtue sometimes. The license agreement for Object Desktop is very generous regarding activations, but there is a finite limit which you have obviously exceeded in a short period of time. Your situation seems very legitimate, despite your ranting, and I'm sure they will make things right if you give them 1) the chance and 2) sufficient information.

That is just enough crap to make me not come back. Thank you. Bye and goodbye.

Methinks dustyshot doth protest too much. How can you want help and be so rude? Can't say people didn't try. He'll just have to drown in his own bile, I guess.
